SHIRLEY!!!

Below are some photos of Shirley, wife of my world famous snake, Shermy. Click on image to enlarge (except for image #6).

I purchased Shirley on October 12, 2003. She was born sometime in July, 2003. These photos were taken in October of 2004. Click here to see earlier pictures.
Shirley is an amelanistic motley corn snake. Motley refers to the irregularities in her pattern; for instance she has a little stripe where her neck is and several patches further down that vary from the rest of her regular "saddle" patches.
Shirley was named after a Peanuts character, like her husband Shermy and her brother Woodstock. I admit that it's a little-known, cameo character (one of three small girls for whom Peppermint Patty was camp counselor circa 1969). I chose the name because it went well with "Shermy."
Amelanistic snakes always look striking on a blue background. Shirley's eyes shine like rubies!

Here's another view of her fabulous markings. The "S," that is about 5/8 down her body from the head, is also shown enlarged below.

Here's a slightly blurry closeup of one of Shirley's cool "motleys," being an "S" for her name as well as her obvious status as a supersnake!
This displays her wonderful "Y" head marking and neck stripe.
"You promised to feed me! Haven't you taken enough pictures yet?"
Okay, Shirley, it's suppertime. Your restaurant host is Copperline, the snake sculpture. Don't worry, the radiator isn't too hot for your restaurant to be located this week.
I thought you were hungry, Shirley! Now you are more interested in imitating a cobra and admiring your own reflection.
Ah, at last you are snuggling up to the meal. Copperline was getting worried about you!
"Can't a girl dine in peace? I don't want my picture taken with my mouth full."
"Please go do something else! I'm hungry but I can't eat with you hovering over me like that!" (She did eat about 1/2 hour later, once I'd left her alone!) Shirley's getting nice and big and beautiful!
